While working towards my degree in marketing with a minor in insurance at the University of South Carolina, I was recruited for an internship by a national life insurance carrier. After a year, I decided that I was interested in the property and casualty side of the business so I began working for an agency in another intern position. Upon my graduation, I went to work for this agency on a full-time basis as a producer.
I’ve always been the type of man who likes to blaze his own path, so working for someone else wasn’t something that I was suited for. As a result of my independent streak, I decided to strike out on my own and began my own agency in January of 2008. My favorite part of what I do is working with my clients. I enjoy getting to know about their family and their needs and making sure that we’re helping them get great protection at a great premium.
One of my greatest supporters has always been my beautiful wife, Susan, because without her encouragement I doubt I would have struck out on my own. We are the proud parents of twins – Luke and Lily – and we couldn’t be happier. Watching them grow from babies into a young man and a young lady has been the most rewarding experience of our lives.
The newest chapter in the agency is our move from our previous location to our new office on Clebourne Street. Though our old office was full of charm, the business had grown to the point that we needed additional space. We’re still located in downtown Fort Mill so I encourage you to stop by and visit us!

Though it’s hard for me to fathom, I began my insurance career almost 30 years ago in a small agency located in the outskirts of Atlanta, Georgia. Over the years, I’ve had the pleasure of working in both commercial and personal lines of insurance as well as on the underwriting and sales sides of the industry. When I was looking to make a change from the corporate world, the charm of working in Fort Mill was too much to resist.
I began working at Independent Insurance Associates in 2010 and am proud to report that I was the first full-time employee. All of my skills in customer service, ability to translate confusing insurance jargon into plain English, and navigate insurance certificates are put to use on a daily basis. In addition, I have the added pleasure of being a part of a growing business and knowing that what I do is measured in more than corporate goals and statistics. Our clients tell us what a great job we are doing for them every time they provide us with a referral.
Our new office is located on Clebourne Street and I would like to encourage you to come visit us. The best part of our day is when a customer stops in to ask questions, pay a bill, or even simply to pass on a friendly “hello”. Hopefully, we’ll see you soon!

One of my very first jobs was as an assistant teacher working at a preschool. I absolutely loved being able to care for and share my love of reading with the children I worked with. Initially, I began to pursue a degree in Early Childhood Education. After a couple of years of going to school for early childhood, I learned that my true love was for business, which led me to switch my major to Business in General Management.
When I graduated with my degree, I was fortunate enough to get promoted from Assistant Manager to Manager at the restaurant I was working at. With this job, I learned that once again my passion was for business, and wanted to focus on that more and less on management. So I went in search of a job that would fulfill my want for the career path I was striving for. In early spring of 2019, I started my job at Independent Insurance Associates as a licensed Property & Casualty producer.
At first glance, there might not be many similarities as my previous jobs working in the childcare industry and manager of a restaurant, but both of them are based on the same underlying principles of listening to and taking care of the needs of others, problem-solving, and effective communication. I’m excited to begin my career path with Independent Insurance Associates because those principles are part of the foundation of this agency. I look forward to using and refining these skills, employing my Southern charm (since I’m from Rock Hill) and using my social media and marketing savvy to help this company grow.
